How it works
A wall you chose, right when the urge hits.
Manaya is an app blocker for iPhone built on Apple's Screen Time frameworks. You make protection groups, pick how hard each group is to open, and friction shows up first when the scroll impulse hits.
Open a blocked app. The feed does not win first.
What happens when you open a protected app?
Instead of dropping straight into the feed, Manaya's shield steps in. Depending on that group's plan, you get a short Wait, a longer Wait, or a full stop. The point is not to punish you. It's to buy a few seconds of clarity before the habit runs the show.
Three steps
- 1
Make a protection group
Name it (for example "Doomscrolling") and add the apps or sites you want behind the shield. One group with everything works like a single plan. Add more only if you want different strength for different apps.
- 2
Choose that group's plan
Easy / Basic, Medium / Standard, Hard / Strict, or Custom. The plan sets Wait length, Open window, limits, and how hard it is to undo your own rules.
- 3
Live with the friction
Open a protected app and Manaya meets you there. Keep protection on, build a streak with Mana, and notice how often you simply walk away.
Wait and Open window
Wait is the pause before a protected app can open. Open window is the short time it stays usable after you finish the Wait, then the shield returns. Higher plans use a shorter Open window so a quick check does not become an hour.
Why not just use Screen Time?
Apple Screen Time is useful for awareness. For many people the Ignore Limit button is still one tap away when the urge is loud. Manaya is built as a Screen Time alternative for that moment: stronger friction you chose in advance, groups with Easy to Hard strength, still running on Apple's own shielding tech on your device.
Honest about the limits
No consumer iPhone app can make blocking truly impossible. Manaya makes the impulsive path genuinely hard. You stay in control through iPhone Settings. That honesty is part of the product, not fine print we hope you skip.
